Eddie did not look very good in that last fight, he is always putting himself in trouble early.  He may not make it to the finals... thoughts?

Eddie is the highest ranked LW fighter in the tournament.  It could be a problem when the highly ranked fighters don't measure up.  He has everything going for him so far.

Eddie is a very experienced and talented fighter, with tremendous confidence and drive to win.  He has widespread East Coast support.  He will fight on the East Coast.  He will be hard to beat.  If he is beaten, the person who beats him should be recognized as a legitimate top-ranked fighter.

You know, that's strange!  I had the same feeling!  Even though it wasn't supposed to go that way, I think that Toby Imada would have won this fight.

As is his style, Eddie Alvarez came out very aggressive, but didn't accomplish much the entire round.  A few wild punches.  A lot of energy expended clinching against the cage. Some short punches to the body sneaked in by Alvarez.  Toby Imada responding with knees. Toby Imada judo throws Alvarez to the ground hard, but the momentum enables Alvarez to slide out from under Toby and stand up.  A very close call for Alvarez.  In my opinion, Toby Imada wins the first round.

In the second round, Toby Imada walks right into a looping right and goes down.  Alvarez pounces, hits him before he can recover and gets his back.  It's over.

Too bad.  It would have been a really interesting fight.

Alvarez repeatedly grasps the cage to keep from being taken down and the ref warns him but doesn't ever penalize him.  He gets judo-thrown down to the canvas twice.  He was hit with a hard knee, an uppercut and a right-hook, and numerous knees.  Toby Imada was controlling (dominating if you will)  the fight in the first round.  Toby Imada walked into a looping right in the beginning of the second round and went down for the easy rear naked-choke before he could recover.  Alvarez won, but did he really win?  Hardly the performance of a number 3 world-ranked against a unknown.  If Alvarez would have missed, Toby Imada would have won the championship!  A win is a win, irregardless.  You go Eddie Alvarez!
